Terms of service

Plain terms for a small service. They say what you can expect from ProjectWriter and what it expects from you.

Your writing is yours

You keep every right to what you write. We claim nothing. We store and transmit it only to provide the service to you, and we do not read it.

What the service is for

ProjectWriter syncs Markdown text. Only .md files are ever transferred — other files are ignored by the mechanism rather than forbidden by a rule, so it cannot be used as general file hosting. A single document may not exceed 10 MB, which is far beyond anything anybody writes.

Projects in storage we host are limited to 1 GB per account. Projects in your own Google Drive have no limit from us; that is your space.

Do not use ProjectWriter for anything unlawful, or to store content you have no right to store. If you believe something here infringes your copyright, write to us and we will act.

What you should not expect

This is a small, free service. Being honest about that is more useful than a warranty.

• There is no version history. Saving overwrites what was there. The previous version is gone, on every storage option.
• One device at a time. Editing the same project in two places will lose work. There is no merging.
• We do not guarantee the service will be available, or that it will not lose data. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot bear to lose — the on-device program gives you one automatically.
• The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Accounts

Signing in is by a link sent to your email address. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep that account secure. You can delete your account at any time.

Ending it

You can stop using ProjectWriter whenever you like, and take your writing with you. We may suspend an account that is breaking these terms or putting the service at risk, and we will tell you why.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so by email before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of any mandatory law of the country you live in.
